Type Of Bees
The Stingless Bee
Stingless bees are bees that often build thier nest in hollow tree trunks. Colonies of these social bees may have from 50 to several thousand members. They live in only tropical and semitropical ares.
Carpenter Bee
Carpenter bees have a tunnel in the trunk of their tree for its nest. They divide the nest tunnel into various cells that separates by the wood chips mixed with saliva. Each cell contains an egg with some food.
The Leaf-Cutting Bee
The Leaf-Cutting Bee is another bee that nests in tunnels. These bees fill the tunnels with cells that are made up of small pieces of leaf mixed with saliva.
Mimicking Bee
The Mimicking Bee burrows into the loose ground to make its nest. These bees are considered solitary insects, but many share the same main tunnels to the surface of the ground.
Mason Bee
The Mason Bee occasionally builds its nest on a stone wall that consists of several cells made of clay and saliva.
Yellow Jack Bee
The Yellow Jack Bee were given it's name because of it's fur that helps these bees survive during the cold seasons. The fur also helps protect the development of the yellow jack eggs in the winter.
Bee Mimics
Bee Mimics are insects that look like bees and have the bee colors, but they are not bees. They have colors such as black strips, yellow stripe, and sometimes brown stripes.
Insight: The bodies of bees have many glands: one set, for example, produces beeswax and another produce brood food to feed the developing larvae
